Site Preparation for New Slabs & Patios
Every lasting pour starts below the surface. As part of your concrete installation, we handle the subgrade and base preparation, forming and compaction that give your slab or patio a stable foundation.
Let's discuss the concrete portion of your project
Scope
What this service includes
- Subgrade assessment and preparation for the pour area
- Base material placement and compaction
- Forming and layout for the pour
- Demolition and removal of existing concrete in the pour area
- Coordination with licensed trade partners where significant grading or excavation is needed
The fundamentals
Why the groundwork matters
Concrete is unforgiving of what's underneath it. Soft spots, organic material and poorly compacted fill all telegraph through as cracks and settlement — which is why preparation is part of our craft, not an afterthought.
Where a site needs significant grading, excavation or drainage work beyond the pour area, we coordinate with appropriately licensed trade partners rather than stretching beyond our scope.

Long-term value
Built for long-term performance
Preparation is the cheapest insurance in concrete work. A stable, well-compacted base is what lets the slab above it reach its full lifespan without cracking, settling or holding water.
Our family, your project
Why Ultimate Concrete
Ultimate Concrete is a second-generation family business, pouring in the Central Valley since 2007. The family name is on every job — that means continuity from estimate to final finish, accountability if anything needs attention, and craftsmanship passed down rather than subcontracted away.

Common questions
Is site prep a separate service I can hire you for?
Our preparation work is part of a concrete installation — we prepare the ground we're going to pour on. We don't offer standalone excavation or land clearing.
What if my site needs major grading first?
We'll tell you honestly. Where significant grading or excavation is needed, that work belongs with appropriately licensed trades — we can coordinate the sequence so your pour happens on properly prepared ground.
How do I know if my soil is a problem?
Parts of the Central Valley have expansive soils. We assess the pour area during your estimate and prepare the base accordingly.
